Event for sponsors 2017

9th event for sponsors on 29th June 2017

At this ninth event, the sponsors were invited to a trip on Pilatus,  Lucerne's very own mountain. With the historic steamboat "Unterwalden" the trip first went from Lucerne to Alpnachstad. There  detailed explanations about the steamboat were given and a visit to the shed of the Pilatusbahn was organized. Then we went  with the world's steepest cogwheel railway to the Hotel Pilatus Kulm. During the  lunch Peter Riedwyl, the President of the Board of Trustees, provided the latest information from the Foundation. The return journey was then made by  the cable car down to Kriens and with Extra busses back to the starting point at the station of Lucerne.

The event was again organized by Heinz Schaller.

• In the morning approximately 100 participants met at the Lucerne Pier, where they were greeted by Peter Riedwyl, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

• The historic steam boat ready to start at the pier near the railway station.

• 

• Coffee and crescents were served at the boat.

• 

• At short view back to Lucerne.

• 

• We are approaching Stansstad and the beginning of the lake of Alpnach.

• 

• Our boat trip ends in Alpnachstad. By the way, the "Unterwalden" is the only one of the historical steamboats that can travel here. Only with it that boat the chimney and the superstructures can be lowered, in order to pass under the highway bridge.

• 

• While one part of the group received detailed explanations about  the steamship, the employees of the Pilatusbahn gave to the other part interesting informations about this 48% slope steepest cogwheel railway in the world.

• 

• The visit of the shed gave a good view about the technics and the operating  of this railway.

• 

• Entrance in a train of the Pilatus Railway.

• 

• Soon Alpnachstad was far down.

• 

• 4 trains followed in short distances.

• 

• At the crossing station of Ämsigen these special constructions of points could be seen.

• 

• The further run gave a spectacular view on the lake of Alpnach.

• 

• Steep up the slopes of Pilate. It is amazing what the constructors of the railway have done here 130 years ago.

• 

• We were received with an drink in the Hotel Pilatus Kulm.  Unfortunately inbetween clouds covered the view.

• 

• After lunch, Peter Riedwyl, Chairman of the Board, informed the guests about the current state of the projects and funding, as well as the tasks still awaiting the foundation.

• 

• After dessert and coffee the trip was continued with the cable car down to Kriens and further by extra busses back to the station of Lucerne
