Workshops

The DFB has several workshops, on the one hand for the railway vehicles, but also for the machines of the construction department.
In addition to the Realp depot, which has been in operation since 1990, a workshop equipped with five railway tracks has been built over the last few years, serving the mechanical and electrical engineer's department for the work on the railway vehicles.
The two tracks on the left side of the hall belong to the dieselcrew-workshop , the middle track to the coaches department, and the two tracks on the right hand side of the hall are for the steam workshop.
The detailed steam engine overhauls (level R3) cannot be carried out in Realp as capacities are not sufficient. They are executed in the Uzwil workshop.
The reconstruction works as well as the major overhauls of passenger cars are carried out by the Aarau workshop .
The construction department operates a workshop in Göschenen for the maintenance of snow removal vehicles (excluding the railway milling engine).
